Opatija is a mediterranean city with central european charm, a destination favored by numerous businessmen and tourists, overlooking the Kvarner Bay and at the foot of Mount Ucka. Opatija is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful concert locations on the Croatian coast, surrounded by a natural environment and directly on the sea. The favorable geographical position with very good road and rail connections, as well as the pleasant climate, were the main reasons for the rapid development of tourism at the end of the 19th century. Today Opatija is an elegant holiday resort with a long tourist tradition in Croatia. The city is renowned for its beauty, its well-kept parks and gardens and 12 km of promenade. Most of the coast is covered by the typical vegetation of the area. Opatija is considered the “Croatian Monte Carlo”, where fashionable villas and luxury hotels host customers who can enjoy the mild climate on the terraces of many traditional cafes. Opatija has always been the most famous event and entertainment center.
The Festival is a non-competitive choral meeting that takes place in Opatija and Rijeka in Croatia and in the Postojna Cave in Slovenia, open to all choirs (adult choirs, youth and children choirs, mixed, female and male choirs) with a sacred, profane, popular or gospel repertoire. All participating choirs will have the opportunity to perform in Rijeka and in the Postojna Caves together with the other participating choirs.
